Walking the talk in cannabis social equity isn’t an easy task. Everyone involved in cannabis has an opinion about what social equity means and what needs to be done to right the wrongs done by cannabis prohibition and overzealous policing. As we see it, social equity acknowledges that systemic inequalities exist in our industry and community. A successful social equity plan and program works to eliminate the inequities and ensures that everyone has access to opportunities and positive outcomes.

Cannabis and Outdoor Adventuring
The hot summer sun, majestic fall colors, glistening winter snow, and the rebirth of spring give us SO much opportunity to enjoy outdoor adventuring with cannabis. There’s nothing like getting outside and moving your body with a nice clean high. Since you’ll be in a different environment, the rule to follow is “start low, go slow” with any type of consumption. We believe outdoor adventuring is more pleasurable with cannabis, but getting too high could make you the main character in a cautionary tale.
Bike ‘n Blaze
Throughout the summer, the Pharmhouse Pham puts together a Bike ‘n Blaze! On a beautiful Saturday morning, we meet at the Pharm, toke and mingle, then hit the Kent trails. As a group, we ride through Millenium Park to enjoy the beautiful scenery with a great mellow...
The Indica vs. Sativa Paradigm Is No Longer Relevant
“Indica or Sativa?” This question about cannabis has dominated weed conversation for quite some time. People often use these plant references when discussing the type of experience desired from your flower. However, when describing a cannabis strain’s effects, the sativa or indica comparison is flawed; sativa and indica only represent the physical plant, and plants don’t necessarily determine the psychoactive effects of the strain.
LGBTQ Pride Month and Cannabis
You’ve probably noticed that we proudly fly a Pride flag from the front porch of Pharmhouse Wellness, and for us, it’s more than an expression of support for the LGBTQ community. It’s our way of saying thanks to the queer community for what it has done for us.
Make Your Own Cannabis Edibles
There’s no time better to make your own cannabis edibles—flower in Michigan is inexpensive right now and there are so many interesting strains to choose from. While we always have many edibles to choose from in our store, sometimes it’s fun to experiment and make your own. We’re all for people trying new things with cannabis, and in this blog, we’re going to talk about how to make cannabutter, that’s a key ingredient to use in your favorite recipes.
Select Cannabis Strains for Spring Serenity
There is a time of year that every Michigander looks forward to, and it’s finally here. The snow has melted, the sun is rising earlier and setting later, and people are spending more time outside as the temperature rises and new growth emerges.
Cannabis Tourism in Michigan
Almost every day at Pharmhouse Wellness we meet people who are traveling here looking to buy cannabis. While more and more Midwestern states are legalizing, people from Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin turn to the Mitten for legal cannabis. Michigan is also one of the few states with a reciprocal medical marijuana program—which means people who hold med cards in another state are welcome to shop here in Michigan.

The Real Story Behind 420
The term “420” is a part of every stoner’s vocabulary, but where does this term come from, and how did it become so universally known and used in cannabis culture? We’re here to share the real story behind 420—our favorite holiday.
A Great Match: Cannabis and Food Pairings
The advent of cannabis cooking shows, like ”Bong Appetit” on Vice and “Cooking with Cannabis” on Netflix got us thinking about cannabis and food pairings and how it might work for the every day home chef who wants to make food and cannabis work together.
Grams and Jams
Why do music and cannabis work so well together? For starters, weed brings you into the moment, so you’re completely present with the music. Secondly, marijuana provides you with the perceived expansion of time so when you’re listening to music you can really get lost in it which can be a meditative experience.

You know a bit about weed, right? Yet, someone will drop some cannabis terms now and then, and you’re not sure what they mean. With widespread cannabis legalization, there are many new products in stores. You may know what a joint or bowl is, but in the presence of stoners, certain terminology may elude you. We’re here to help you be in “the know”.

GRow Journal: September 2021
You may have heard the analogy that being in the cannabis industry is like being on a rollercoaster. I’m here to certify that analogy is indeed true! One day you feel on top of the world with a new opportunity or achievement in front of you, the next day you find yourself miles away from that euphoria, surrounded by seemingly insurmountable barriers.
The Best Way to Store Your Marijuana
By law, in Michigan, we’re each allowed to have up to 10 ounces of cannabis in our house at any given time. And if you’re lucky enough to have 10 ounces of flower, you need to make sure it’s stored to maintain maximum potency and freshness.
